Country Music In My Words

Like all music, country music is a remedy. I would call country music a nostalgic remedy. Whether it remind us of our past like when we were young ,our first love, or a reminder of home far away. That is the reason country music was made because immigrants wanted to tell stories that remind them of their former home. It was also a great way to express the struggles and challenges of working hard in this new world and just like every country in the world, they created folk music of their old tales and life in the early days.

Country music grew out of that and that’s why stories are quintessential in country music. If you notice, the majority of all country songs have a story whether it’s a struggle like “Jolene” by Dolly Parton or “Drink a beer” by Luke Bryan, filled with advice and knowledge like “Live Like You’re Dying” by Tim McGraw or “Kiss an Angel Good Morning” by Charley Pride.

Country music is also great to relate to whether you’re like Johnny Paycheck and want to say “Take This Job and Shove It” or remember the early days of adulthood like “Strawberry Wine” by Deana Carter

The beauty of country music is that it becomes yours and you will definitely think your generation of country music is the best whether you like the country-pop of the 80s and 2010s, old-timey tunes of Roy Acuff and Hank Williams or today’s age. I honestly don’t know how to describe 2020s country as there is such widespread with Shaboozy, Zach Top, Beyonce, Tyler Childers and The Red Clay Strays.

Every generation has their own country legends and all you got to do is listen and find your own legend.
